Imprinted concrete sealing

We are based Plymouth but cover most parts of south Devon and Cornwall, we specialise in the cleaning and sealing of all types of imprinted concrete driveways and patios.

Imprinted concrete is a very durable surface and is seen more and more these days as homeowners look for harder wearing surfaces for their driveways and patios. It is also easier to maintain than block paving as there are no sand filled joints that can attract weeds and other forms of surface growth.

Refurbishment of an existing imprinted concrete surface is usually done in two stages. The imprinted concrete is cleaned then left to dry and then coated with a quality concrete sealer from Smartseal. If the imprinted concrete has only been down for a few years, this may be all that is required to restore the original look. However, if the concrete has been left for many years without re-sealing, the surface may have faded badly and lost colour over time. In this instance, we would recommend more than two coats of sealer to bring it back to something like its original look.

The steps required for Imprinted concrete cleaning and sealing: -

  • Remove any oil or grease stains with oil remover
  • Pressure cllean the concrete and leave to dry off
  • Mix correct colour tint with the sealer if necessary
  • Apply additional coats of imprinted concrete sealer
  • If necessary, put mastic back into expansion joints

It's important to re-seal the imprinted concrete every few years to keep it in optimum condition.
